One NOP-In with the session age, a free-slot index, reserved TTT, and no data triggers the fault without a race.\nPR:N - iscsi_sw_tcp_conn_bind() enables receive processing before iscsi_conn_start() marks the session logged in, while __iscsi_complete_pdu() has no CHAP or session-state gate. The target therefore needs no credentials or local capability.\nUI:N - On a bound or automatically restored iSCSI session, iscsi_sw_tcp_data_ready() parses the target's NOP-In immediately; no user must open data or perform another action.\nS:U - __iscsi_complete_pdu() misidentifies a task inside the host kernel's own iscsi_session pool, and the resulting fault affects that same kernel without crossing a VM, IOMMU, or other security boundary.\nC:N - iscsi_nop_out_rsp() reads conn->ping_task through the NULL task->conn pointer and exposes no data to the target. Selecting an active SCSI slot returns any unfilled buffer only to the local requester, not to the remote attacker.\nI:N - The NULL-slot path performs no attacker-controlled write. An active SCSI slot can be completed early, but this supplies no host-memory write or control-flow primitive beyond the target's existing authority to acknowledge its own remote block operations.\nA:H - A single forged NOP-In naming a zeroed free slot makes iscsi_nop_out_rsp() dereference task->conn at conn->ping_task, producing the demonstrated general-protection fault in IRQ context and potentially panicking the kernel."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/scsi/libiscsi.c"],"versions":[{"version":"7996a778ff8c717cb1a7a294475c59cc8f1e9fb8","lessThan":"bf4035656852a386fecb5d6217710a1bde536e76","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7996a778ff8c717cb1a7a294475c59cc8f1e9fb8","lessThan":"5b56229cc152095fbe4e4ff537cb206c4aa41610","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7996a778ff8c717cb1a7a294475c59cc8f1e9fb8","lessThan":"7a7a473aec51195778a54fdd71f20fda3047b8ef","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7996a778ff8c717cb1a7a294475c59cc8f1e9fb8","lessThan":"77134cf996bab55683f0ceafb9e300d97ac046f8","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7996a778ff8c717cb1a7a294475c59cc8f1e9fb8","lessThan":"e96ae694c5038aae84142b64e41b56324b7af9a7","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7996a778ff8c717cb1a7a294475c59cc8f1e9fb8","lessThan":"55a65ef61e2775aeb18fda63bd1959fa8b41f936","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7996a778ff8c717cb1a7a294475c59cc8f1e9fb8","lessThan":"f721487523d45941aed4b0ac8d829b0461a7d860","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7996a778ff8c717cb1a7a294475c59cc8f1e9fb8","lessThan":"11bffcd9cb346732eab2914ef44fe777a3f0b585","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/scsi/libiscsi.c"],"versions":[{"version":"2.6.18","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"2.6.18","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.10.273","lessThanOrEqual":"5.10.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.15.224","lessThanOrEqual":"5.15.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.191","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.161","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.115","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.59","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2.13","lessThanOrEqual":"7.2.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.3","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.18","versionEndExcluding":"5.10.273"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.18","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.224"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.18","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.191"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.18","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.161"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.18","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.115"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.18","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.59"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.18","versionEndExcluding":"7.2.13"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.18","versionEndExcluding":"7.3"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/bf4035656852a386fecb5d6217710a1bde536e76"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/5b56229cc152095fbe4e4ff537cb206c4aa41610"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/7a7a473aec51195778a54fdd71f20fda3047b8ef"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/77134cf996bab55683f0ceafb9e300d97ac046f8"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/e96ae694c5038aae84142b64e41b56324b7af9a7"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/55a65ef61e2775aeb18fda63bd1959fa8b41f936"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/f721487523d45941aed4b0ac8d829b0461a7d860"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/11bffcd9cb346732eab2914ef44fe777a3f0b585"}],"title":"scsi: libiscsi: Validate the task named by a management response","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
