Worse, when the\ndriver is force-bound to a device without an ACPI companion, probe\nstill succeeds and stores a NULL companion pointer, which\nasus_wireless_remove() later passes to acpi_dev_remove_notify_handler(),\nleading to a NULL pointer dereference on unbind.\n\nReturn -ENODEV when the device does not match the ID table.  This also\ncovers the missing-companion case, because acpi_match_acpi_device()\nrejects a NULL device.  Perform the check before allocating any driver\nstate, instead of after the input device has already been registered."}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/platform/x86/asus-wireless.c"],"versions":[{"version":"f7e648027d7e1b5c06eb86d944b7e23926254cee","lessThan":"7bfa711f311a584002e16ecd750627306deb805c","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"f7e648027d7e1b5c06eb86d944b7e23926254cee","lessThan":"4aefd66ef7822cf7d3f53146dcee0b71021ed2b7","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/platform/x86/asus-wireless.c"],"versions":[{"version":"7.1","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"7.1","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2.6","lessThanOrEqual":"7.2.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.3-rc1","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"7.1","versionEndExcluding":"7.2.6"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"7.1","versionEndExcluding":"7.3-rc1"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/7bfa711f311a584002e16ecd750627306deb805c"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4aefd66ef7822cf7d3f53146dcee0b71021ed2b7"}],"title":"platform/x86: asus-wireless: Fail probe when there is no ACPI match","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
