When that happens for the link array and the second\nkrealloc() then fails, card->dai_link still points to the block that\nkrealloc() already freed, and the error path frees the new block too.\nThe probe error path then calls meson_card_clean_references(), which\ndereferences card->dai_link and kfree()s it again, resulting in a\nuse-after-free and a double free.\n\nCommit card->dai_link and card->num_links right after the first\nkrealloc() succeeds, so the pointer always refers to a valid allocation\nthat meson_card_clean_references() can walk and free. krealloc() with\n__GFP_ZERO zero-initializes the added entries, so walking them on the\nerror path is safe. With both failure paths reduced to a plain return,\ndrop the goto labels and the error message."}],"metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","baseScore":7.4,"baseSeverity":"HIGH"},"scenarios":[{"lang":"en","value":"AV:L - meson_card_reallocate_links() is reached only from meson_card_probe() (axg_card_pdrv.probe for compatible \"amlogic,axg-sound-card\") via meson_card_add_links() and axg_card_add_tdm_loopback(); no network protocol message or USB descriptor carries the dangling dai_link pointer.\nAC:H - The UAF fires only if meson_card_reallocate_links()'s krealloc of card->dai_link succeeds and the following krealloc of priv->link_data returns NULL. Both are GFP_KERNEL (reclaim allowed). meson_card_probe() then returns -ENOMEM; snd_soc_bind_card() maps DAI-component -EPROBE_DEFER to 0, so driver core does not retry axg_card_add_tdm_loopback().\nPR:N - meson_card_probe() and axg_card_add_tdm_loopback() have no capable() check. On Amlogic boards whose DT includes amlogic,axg-sound-card with a TDM playback link (meson-axg-s400.dts dai-link-6 / meson-khadas-vim3.dtsi dai-link-6), of_platform or udev autoload of snd-soc-meson-axg-sound-card runs this probe without an OS account.\nUI:N - axg_card_add_tdm_loopback() runs inside meson_card_probe() during automatic platform bind of the DT sound node; no victim must open /dev/snd/*, mount media, or plug extra hardware.\nS:U - meson_card_clean_references() use-after-frees and double-frees the host-kernel card->dai_link array from meson_card_reallocate_links(); impact stays in this kernel and is not a VM escape or IOMMU/DMA bypass.\nC:H - On the second-krealloc failure, meson_card_clean_references() walks the stale card->dai_link with for_each_card_prelinks() and reads link->cpus and link->codecs from the already-freed snd_soc_dai_link array, a heap UAF read.\nI:H - The same path kfree()s card->dai_link again (the old block krealloc may already have freed, or err_ldata's kfree(links) already released) and of_node_put()s pointers loaded from that freed array, a double-free/UAF write primitive.\nA:H - meson_card_clean_references() dereferences and kfree()s the freed dai_link array after meson_card_reallocate_links() returns -ENOMEM, causing a kernel oops or panic (slab UAF / invalid-free)."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["sound/soc/meson/meson-card-utils.c"],"versions":[{"version":"7864a79f37b55769b817d5e6c5ae0ca4bfdba93b","lessThan":"de33afc57f24538186bccf4c4f6c65dd38634fd8","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7864a79f37b55769b817d5e6c5ae0ca4bfdba93b","lessThan":"1c1485343b7c1c39dab7ecb9cd16ba49fd0ce642","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7864a79f37b55769b817d5e6c5ae0ca4bfdba93b","lessThan":"8db0a0fc84e80aa9924e0833aef6cc95df94e5a7","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7864a79f37b55769b817d5e6c5ae0ca4bfdba93b","lessThan":"41e92e0caa1fe3df2efaca346bfcaeb7fb9826ab","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7864a79f37b55769b817d5e6c5ae0ca4bfdba93b","lessThan":"0b30fbe6bf7cf6499b19dd886f466e7c9e820089","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7864a79f37b55769b817d5e6c5ae0ca4bfdba93b","lessThan":"8fec16898f184e5f8f8fdd09ff1ced2bd7ffc13d","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7864a79f37b55769b817d5e6c5ae0ca4bfdba93b","lessThan":"5ed1b048527bebe4529eb6e01c34dcc5d97ba5fe","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"7864a79f37b55769b817d5e6c5ae0ca4bfdba93b","lessThan":"2aaa41cf974f83a6fb105422bac4e2f107150774","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["sound/soc/meson/meson-card-utils.c"],"versions":[{"version":"4.19","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"4.19","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.10.270","lessThanOrEqual":"5.10.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.15.221","lessThanOrEqual":"5.15.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.188","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.157","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.110","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.52","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2.6","lessThanOrEqual":"7.2.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.3-rc1","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"5.10.270"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.221"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.188"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.157"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.110"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.52"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"7.2.6"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"7.3-rc1"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/de33afc57f24538186bccf4c4f6c65dd38634fd8"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/1c1485343b7c1c39dab7ecb9cd16ba49fd0ce642"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/8db0a0fc84e80aa9924e0833aef6cc95df94e5a7"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/41e92e0caa1fe3df2efaca346bfcaeb7fb9826ab"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/0b30fbe6bf7cf6499b19dd886f466e7c9e820089"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/8fec16898f184e5f8f8fdd09ff1ced2bd7ffc13d"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/5ed1b048527bebe4529eb6e01c34dcc5d97ba5fe"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/2aaa41cf974f83a6fb105422bac4e2f107150774"}],"title":"ASoC: meson: Keep link pointers valid on realloc failure","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
