A remote Omni-Path peer does not supply that request; kernel verbs already check sdma_txinit_ahg() and are not this bug.\nAC:L - On the AHG path (npkts>1 and HFI1_CAP_IS_USET(SDMA_AHG) so ahg_idx>=0), the attacker sets a later packet's datalen to 0 or info.fragsize>MAX_SDMA_PKT_SIZE so sdma_txinit_ahg() returns -ENODATA/-EMSGSIZE. set_txreq_header_ahg() still returns the AHG index count, and user_sdma_send_pkts() continues with no race.\nPR:L - hfi1_user_devnode() creates /dev/hfi1_N with mode 0666, and hfi1_file_open()/assign_ctxt() perform no capability checks, so an ordinary unprivileged local user can assign a context and writev() the crafted SDMA request.\nUI:N - Exploitation is the attacker's own open, HFI1_IOCTL_ASSIGN_CTXT, and writev() of a multi-packet user SDMA request; no other user must mount media, open a file, or otherwise interact.\nS:U - The uninitialized user_sdma_txreq.txreq is consumed by make_tx_sdma_desc() and submit_tx() inside the host hfi1 driver; impact is host-kernel memory/DMA corruption, not a guest-to-host, IOMMU, or other authority-boundary escape.\nC:H - user_sdma_send_pkts() still calls hfi1_add_pages_to_sdma_packet() after the failed sdma_txinit_ahg(), and make_tx_sdma_desc() reads/writes through uninitialized tx->descp. A recycled txreq_cache object whose extended descp was kfree'd in __sdma_txclean() is a use-after-free, enabling kernel info disclosure.\nI:H - make_tx_sdma_desc() writes DMA address and length through that uninitialized/dangling descp, and submit_tx() copies those descriptors into the SDMA ring. That is an arbitrary kernel write and hardware DMA of attacker-influenced descriptors, enabling control-flow hijack.\nA:H - submit_tx() always loads descp->qw[0] even when num_desc is 0, so a NULL descp from an uninitialized txreq is a kernel NULL-deref oops; garbage num_desc/descriptors also crash or halt the SDMA engine."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/infiniband/hw/hfi1/user_sdma.c"],"versions":[{"version":"e3304b7cc4f14d365f46d6847a35563ae8b017f7","lessThan":"cb73c2fe6e9cf563c99f22b7c8bca0d5f70d603e","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e3304b7cc4f14d365f46d6847a35563ae8b017f7","lessThan":"122a730675565ff2ad210537c3fc3afb8291d482","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e3304b7cc4f14d365f46d6847a35563ae8b017f7","lessThan":"bf974994150cfd14bfc599748925f4d426e00d90","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e3304b7cc4f14d365f46d6847a35563ae8b017f7","lessThan":"fd6dee13f3857259b6b2ddd28e1ed95fd94ae2f9","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e3304b7cc4f14d365f46d6847a35563ae8b017f7","lessThan":"5b7cefffd15d87c8103865f887cdcf9077d8094b","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e3304b7cc4f14d365f46d6847a35563ae8b017f7","lessThan":"3416db552eb378e54cb2f2ce0db5f0df88654bda","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e3304b7cc4f14d365f46d6847a35563ae8b017f7","lessThan":"ca99431820e8cac19f6a091c04da54cbe8d64f52","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e3304b7cc4f14d365f46d6847a35563ae8b017f7","lessThan":"091c6162c022cbdfb64219708a71728cfd1d4600","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/infiniband/hw/hfi1/user_sdma.c"],"versions":[{"version":"4.14","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"4.14","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.10.270","lessThanOrEqual":"5.10.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.15.221","lessThanOrEqual":"5.15.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.188","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.157","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.110","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.52","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2.6","lessThanOrEqual":"7.2.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.3-rc1","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.14","versionEndExcluding":"5.10.270"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.14","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.221"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.14","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.188"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.14","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.157"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.14","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.110"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.14","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.52"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.14","versionEndExcluding":"7.2.6"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.14","versionEndExcluding":"7.3-rc1"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/cb73c2fe6e9cf563c99f22b7c8bca0d5f70d603e"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/122a730675565ff2ad210537c3fc3afb8291d482"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/bf974994150cfd14bfc599748925f4d426e00d90"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/fd6dee13f3857259b6b2ddd28e1ed95fd94ae2f9"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/5b7cefffd15d87c8103865f887cdcf9077d8094b"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3416db552eb378e54cb2f2ce0db5f0df88654bda"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/ca99431820e8cac19f6a091c04da54cbe8d64f52"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/091c6162c022cbdfb64219708a71728cfd1d4600"}],"title":"RDMA/hfi1: Propagate sdma_txinit_ahg() errors","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
