A\ngetsockopt() racing an in-flight bind() can observe the pointer, block\non lock_sock(), and then dereference a freed nfc_llcp_local once bind()\nhas unwound.\n\nMove the llcp_sock->local read and the NULL check inside the\nlock_sock(sk) region so bind() cannot mutate or free the pointer between\nthe load and the use."}],"metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","baseScore":7.8,"baseSeverity":"HIGH"},"scenarios":[{"lang":"en","value":"AV:L - The UAF is triggered by racing local syscalls on an AF_NFC LLCP socket: getsockopt(2) (__sys_getsockopt → do_sock_getsockopt → nfc_llcp_getsockopt) against bind(2) (__sys_bind → llcp_sock_bind). No LLCP PDU or other NFC-peer bytes are consumed on this path, so an adjacent radio peer cannot drive it.\nAC:L - The attacker owns both sides of the lock_sock(sk) race: one thread calls bind() with service_name_len 0 so nfc_llcp_get_sdp_ssap() returns LLCP_SAP_MAX after llcp_sock->local is stored, and another calls getsockopt(SOL_NFC, NFC_LLCP_RW) on the same socket, which used to snapshot that pointer before taking the lock.\nPR:L - llcp_sock_create() checks capable(CAP_NET_RAW) only for SOCK_RAW; nfc_llcp_getsockopt is on llcp_sock_ops for SOCK_STREAM/DGRAM. An unprivileged user in init_net can socket(AF_NFC, SOCK_STREAM, NFC_SOCKPROTO_LLCP) then bind/getsockopt. nfc_llcp_find_local() needs a registered NFC device, which is typical on phones.\nUI:N - The attacker creates the AF_NFC LLCP socket and issues bind() and getsockopt() on that fd themselves; no other user needs to tap a tag, mount media, or accept a connection.\nS:U - The freed object is the host kernel's kmalloc'd nfc_llcp_local used by nfc_llcp_getsockopt(); impact stays inside the kernel's security authority, not a VM, IOMMU, or sandbox escape.\nC:H - nfc_llcp_getsockopt() dereferences the dangling nfc_llcp_local to read local->rw, local->miux, local->remote_miu, and local->remote_lto and copies those values to userspace with put_user(), so reclaim of the freed slab yields an arbitrary-read primitive.\nI:H - llcp_sock_bind()'s sock_llcp_put_local path drops nfc_llcp_local via nfc_llcp_local_put() while nfc_llcp_getsockopt() still holds the pointer; reclaiming that kmalloc object with attacker-controlled data turns the dangling local into a write/control-flow primitive.\nA:H - Using the freed nfc_llcp_local in nfc_llcp_getsockopt() (the local->rw and local->remote_lto loads) is a kernel slab UAF that oopses or panics on KASAN/SLUB_DEBUG and can crash the system even when not fully exploited."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["net/nfc/llcp_sock.c"],"versions":[{"version":"26fd76cab2e61cedc5c25f7151fb31b57ddc53c7","lessThan":"56fd158fef20268f48db6cdfe5d722e930134eda","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"26fd76cab2e61cedc5c25f7151fb31b57ddc53c7","lessThan":"8ba8cec0586727cc135ca4827921fc7b52946d71","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"26fd76cab2e61cedc5c25f7151fb31b57ddc53c7","lessThan":"ed5240bab3468988077fe8bf29b935eaecc9ff89","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"26fd76cab2e61cedc5c25f7151fb31b57ddc53c7","lessThan":"fe65727a4a21b11c18eebae1338482767a897b76","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"26fd76cab2e61cedc5c25f7151fb31b57ddc53c7","lessThan":"2d8ac24565be85bf56580b87bf1b874d35625eb5","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"26fd76cab2e61cedc5c25f7151fb31b57ddc53c7","lessThan":"156e65bd29307f5053835bff60bc1ba342fa010f","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"26fd76cab2e61cedc5c25f7151fb31b57ddc53c7","lessThan":"d1b73962675cdc5a58e2707e25b548d8b495fde0","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"26fd76cab2e61cedc5c25f7151fb31b57ddc53c7","lessThan":"36812527052c5bfb1ec6c1e292d67a5bf76b750f","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["net/nfc/llcp_sock.c"],"versions":[{"version":"3.10","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"3.10","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.10.270","lessThanOrEqual":"5.10.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.15.221","lessThanOrEqual":"5.15.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.188","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.157","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.110","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.52","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2.6","lessThanOrEqual":"7.2.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.3-rc1","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.10","versionEndExcluding":"5.10.270"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.10","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.221"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.10","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.188"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.10","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.157"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.10","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.110"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.10","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.52"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.10","versionEndExcluding":"7.2.6"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.10","versionEndExcluding":"7.3-rc1"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/56fd158fef20268f48db6cdfe5d722e930134eda"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/8ba8cec0586727cc135ca4827921fc7b52946d71"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/ed5240bab3468988077fe8bf29b935eaecc9ff89"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/fe65727a4a21b11c18eebae1338482767a897b76"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/2d8ac24565be85bf56580b87bf1b874d35625eb5"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/156e65bd29307f5053835bff60bc1ba342fa010f"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d1b73962675cdc5a58e2707e25b548d8b495fde0"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/36812527052c5bfb1ec6c1e292d67a5bf76b750f"}],"title":"nfc: llcp: read llcp_sock->local under the socket lock in getsockopt","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
