The WARN/oops is deterministic; the attacker does not need a race or an uncontrollable memory layout.\nPR:L - hsi_char open/read/write has no capability check. On the intended OMAP3 phone deployment an unprivileged user can also drive SSI DMA through the cellular/phonet modem stack. Direct AF_PHONET sockets need CAP_SYS_ADMIN, which is not required for this highest-impact local path.\nUI:N - The attacker starts the SSI transfer or modem activity themselves; no separate victim must mount a filesystem, plug in a device, or otherwise cooperate.\nS:U - The oops, panic, and any GDD completion on the stale hsi_msg stay in the host kernel. Mapping is rejected rather than issuing IOMMU-bypassing DMA, so this is not a VM escape or DMA-boundary bypass.\nC:H - ssi_claim_lch() leaves the hsi_msg in gdd_trn after dma_map_sg() fails and ssi_async() returns that message to the client, so the observed ssi_gdd_complete()/ssi_gdd_tasklet oops is a use-after-unlink of a kernel DMA object, treated as a high-impact read primitive.\nI:H - The same leftover GDD claim lets completion list_del, dma_unmap_sg, and complete a message the client already reused or freed, corrupting kernel lists and object state; the reporter also hit an L3 interconnect abort and a NULL-pointer store in interrupt context.\nA:H - The original N900 report shows WARN_ON in dma_map_sg, an L3 nobody-cared IRQ storm, a NULL deref in ssi_gdd_tasklet, and Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/hsi/controllers/omap_ssi_core.c"],"versions":[{"version":"f959dcd6ddfd29235030e8026471ac1b022ad2b0","lessThan":"6a5426f56de98faf7886702f8720828bf346a48f","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"f959dcd6ddfd29235030e8026471ac1b022ad2b0","lessThan":"a4beb841f84e0e6ad5ff3d114f43ad30165572dd","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"f959dcd6ddfd29235030e8026471ac1b022ad2b0","lessThan":"9ecef057b7a7f165ce66eaf07cb4cf85d10ed9c7","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"f959dcd6ddfd29235030e8026471ac1b022ad2b0","lessThan":"9963a65be2befff82b5f5a7cfcd7ac4aca081c0b","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"f959dcd6ddfd29235030e8026471ac1b022ad2b0","lessThan":"e8d47e309c704df95816e7442f05947424d8b33f","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"f959dcd6ddfd29235030e8026471ac1b022ad2b0","lessThan":"4e019e5e247bfe877fdf288f2d6ec1b4c850c7c6","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"f959dcd6ddfd29235030e8026471ac1b022ad2b0","lessThan":"fbffbfdae55954213fea99c5c9856c48dc705019","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"f959dcd6ddfd29235030e8026471ac1b022ad2b0","lessThan":"e81250ec6b69248b00d38c523dc6a13efaf38aab","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"4e57482e8440fac7137832629109730ea4b267aa","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"5.9.2","lessThan":"5.10","status":"affected","versionType":"semver"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/hsi/controllers/omap_ssi_core.c"],"versions":[{"version":"5.10","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"5.10","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.10.270","lessThanOrEqual":"5.10.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.15.221","lessThanOrEqual":"5.15.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.188","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.157","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.109","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.50","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2.4","lessThanOrEqual":"7.2.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.3-rc1","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.10","versionEndExcluding":"5.10.270"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.10","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.221"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.10","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.188"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.10","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.157"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.10","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.109"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.10","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.50"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.10","versionEndExcluding":"7.2.4"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.10","versionEndExcluding":"7.3-rc1"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.9.2"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/6a5426f56de98faf7886702f8720828bf346a48f"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/a4beb841f84e0e6ad5ff3d114f43ad30165572dd"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/9ecef057b7a7f165ce66eaf07cb4cf85d10ed9c7"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/9963a65be2befff82b5f5a7cfcd7ac4aca081c0b"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/e8d47e309c704df95816e7442f05947424d8b33f"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4e019e5e247bfe877fdf288f2d6ec1b4c850c7c6"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/fbffbfdae55954213fea99c5c9856c48dc705019"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/e81250ec6b69248b00d38c523dc6a13efaf38aab"}],"title":"hsi: omap_ssi_core: fix missing DMA mask setup for SSI controller device","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
