However, the problem that the \"found\"\nvariable needs to be set to false at the start of each iteration,\notherwise after the first correct doorbell, then everything is marked as\nfound.\n\nReset the \"found\" to false at the start of the iteration and move the\nvariable inside the loop."}],"metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H","baseScore":8.1,"baseSeverity":"HIGH"},"scenarios":[{"lang":"en","value":"AV:A - The bug is reached when inbound RapidIO doorbell packets are received by the TSI721 hardware, queued, and processed in tsi721_db_dpc() via tsi721_irqhandler()->tsi721_dbell_handler()->schedule_work(); any peer on the same SRIO fabric can send these unauthenticated doorbells without local OS access.\nAC:L - On affected systems an attacker who can emit RapidIO doorbells can reliably trigger the flaw by sending a matching doorbell (e.g. rionet JOIN 0x1000) followed by a non-matching one in the same inbound queue; the stale found flag makes this deterministic, not race-dependent.\nPR:N - Exploitation requires no Linux credentials on the victim host; inbound doorbells are accepted from remote fabric endpoints with no authentication, and the vulnerable workqueue path has no capability or permission checks beyond having the TSI721 driver loaded.\nUI:N - No victim interaction is required; the crash is triggered automatically when the hardware receives and the kernel processes the attacker-crafted doorbell sequence.\nS:U - Impact is confined to kernel memory and execution on the host running the TSI721 driver; it does not cross a VM, container, or IOMMU security boundary.\nC:N - The failure mode is a bad pointer dereference/type confusion leading to an invalid indirect call through a mis-cast list head, not an attacker-controlled arbitrary kernel memory read or information disclosure primitive.\nI:H - When found is stale, dbell points at the mport->dbells list head cast to struct rio_dbell, and the kernel invokes dbell->dinb with attacker-controlled doorbell fields; this type confusion can corrupt kernel state or hijack control flow beyond a simple denial of service.\nA:H - Invoking a mis-resolved function pointer from the list-head confusion causes a kernel oops/panic in interrupt-deferred workqueue context, crashing or hanging the entire system."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/rapidio/devices/tsi721.c"],"versions":[{"version":"48618fb4e522d9d02e217ac05f52749545c1af20","lessThan":"9e775c3199903d7c09a52530042b1198eab705bd","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"48618fb4e522d9d02e217ac05f52749545c1af20","lessThan":"81c06ef66c3ab6eeaa72eb790c90ae043cdb3d43","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"48618fb4e522d9d02e217ac05f52749545c1af20","lessThan":"13092966ba5d8fb214a4efeddc87f9ed0fd2f945","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"48618fb4e522d9d02e217ac05f52749545c1af20","lessThan":"acd54f42abbbd806464468838dbc04efd203d2be","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"48618fb4e522d9d02e217ac05f52749545c1af20","lessThan":"3b5c66e922aa6a3331915a14520848a5b3beccc7","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"48618fb4e522d9d02e217ac05f52749545c1af20","lessThan":"070f356ea4f419e4e85e4089381f4477f41d969e","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"48618fb4e522d9d02e217ac05f52749545c1af20","lessThan":"dc28a14f3e4546b2b06098d24177942540581a5f","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"48618fb4e522d9d02e217ac05f52749545c1af20","lessThan":"fc15e3a30ddd950f009c76765331783b9af94a87","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/rapidio/devices/tsi721.c"],"versions":[{"version":"3.2","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"3.2","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.10.261","lessThanOrEqual":"5.10.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.15.212","lessThanOrEqual":"5.15.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.178","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.145","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.97","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.40","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.1.5","lessThanOrEqual":"7.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.2","versionEndExcluding":"5.10.261"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.2","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.212"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.2","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.178"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.2","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.145"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.2","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.97"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.2","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.40"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.2","versionEndExcluding":"7.1.5"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.2","versionEndExcluding":"7.2"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/9e775c3199903d7c09a52530042b1198eab705bd"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/81c06ef66c3ab6eeaa72eb790c90ae043cdb3d43"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/13092966ba5d8fb214a4efeddc87f9ed0fd2f945"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/acd54f42abbbd806464468838dbc04efd203d2be"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3b5c66e922aa6a3331915a14520848a5b3beccc7"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/070f356ea4f419e4e85e4089381f4477f41d969e"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/dc28a14f3e4546b2b06098d24177942540581a5f"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/fc15e3a30ddd950f009c76765331783b9af94a87"}],"title":"rapidio/tsi721: prevent a bad dereference in tsi721_db_dpc()","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
