An occupied goal at the last\nbit can therefore survive the probe and be passed to\n__ocfs2_move_extent(), which copies file data into a cluster still owned\nby another inode before the bitmap is updated.\n\nWhen the probe does find a free run, it also subtracts move_len from the\nending bit.  The start of an N-bit run ending at i is i - N + 1, so the\ncurrent calculation can report the bit immediately before the free run.\n\nClear *phys_cpos before scanning and use the correct free-run start. \nCallers already treat a zero result as -ENOSPC, so failed probes no longer\ncontinue with an occupied caller-controlled goal."}],"metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","baseScore":7.8,"baseSeverity":"HIGH"},"scenarios":[{"lang":"en","value":"AV:L - Exploitation requires the OCFS2_IOC_MOVE_EXT ioctl on a locally mounted ocfs2 volume via sys_ioctl→vfs_ioctl→ocfs2_ioctl; OCFS2 has no network-facing handler exposing this code path.\nAC:L - The attacker fully controls me_goal and move length on the non-auto path; an occupied goal at the end of an alloc group deterministically bypasses ocfs2_probe_alloc_group() and reaches __ocfs2_move_extent() with no races or external preconditions.\nPR:L - OCFS2_IOC_MOVE_EXT performs no capable() check (unlike FITRIM); any local user with FMODE_WRITE on a regular file on an ocfs2 mount can invoke ioctl(), including root inside a user namespace per kernel CNA guidance.\nUI:N - The attacker issues OCFS2_IOC_MOVE_EXT on their own writable fd with crafted parameters; no victim interaction or third-party action is required beyond the enterprise ocfs2 mount already being present.\nS:U - Impact is confined to on-disk data corruption and filesystem availability within the same cluster node/kernel authority; it does not cross VM, container, or IOMMU security boundaries.\nC:H - __ocfs2_move_extent() copies into clusters still allocated to other inodes, creating cross-file block aliasing on shared cluster storage so later reads through the new extent can return another tenant's or root-owned file contents.\nI:H - ocfs2_duplicate_clusters_by_page() writes attacker-controlled file data into physical clusters owned by other inodes before the bitmap is updated, enabling arbitrary corruption of files the attacker lacks write permission to on shared OCFS2 storage.\nA:H - Dual allocation and bitmap/extent inconsistency can trigger ocfs2_error(), forcing remount-ro or panic on the node and corrupting shared storage in ways that impair availability for all cluster members until fsck.ocfs2."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["fs/ocfs2/move_extents.c"],"versions":[{"version":"e6b5859cccfa0fec02f3c5b1069481efc7186f47","lessThan":"3112afebf2a76e522fbaabcbb0c47aafbdc35932","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e6b5859cccfa0fec02f3c5b1069481efc7186f47","lessThan":"35486b291b8fbde6c4d0b1c79e565c6260d3329d","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e6b5859cccfa0fec02f3c5b1069481efc7186f47","lessThan":"19f7b04924b20b81dabbeed19d5542792ba5b6d6","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e6b5859cccfa0fec02f3c5b1069481efc7186f47","lessThan":"e281d892ce5870a50fdc718cb3bfc3dd5b62c728","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e6b5859cccfa0fec02f3c5b1069481efc7186f47","lessThan":"0d0c5c17b18bdbc592ac26ab4d1de7e3dbf9be1e","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e6b5859cccfa0fec02f3c5b1069481efc7186f47","lessThan":"d5d5a21fb33cd9b963aea99da81e4dacd452cd95","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e6b5859cccfa0fec02f3c5b1069481efc7186f47","lessThan":"4d1953d3aeb4a7f6623083e1839068ee1c157db2","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"e6b5859cccfa0fec02f3c5b1069481efc7186f47","lessThan":"22920541c35a9f23f219038ba5874c843a7c4419","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["fs/ocfs2/move_extents.c"],"versions":[{"version":"3.0","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"3.0","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.10.261","lessThanOrEqual":"5.10.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.15.212","lessThanOrEqual":"5.15.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.178","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.145","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.97","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.40","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.1.5","lessThanOrEqual":"7.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.0","versionEndExcluding":"5.10.261"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.0","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.212"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.0","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.178"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.0","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.145"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.0","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.97"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.0","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.40"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.0","versionEndExcluding":"7.1.5"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.0","versionEndExcluding":"7.2"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3112afebf2a76e522fbaabcbb0c47aafbdc35932"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/35486b291b8fbde6c4d0b1c79e565c6260d3329d"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/19f7b04924b20b81dabbeed19d5542792ba5b6d6"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/e281d892ce5870a50fdc718cb3bfc3dd5b62c728"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/0d0c5c17b18bdbc592ac26ab4d1de7e3dbf9be1e"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d5d5a21fb33cd9b963aea99da81e4dacd452cd95"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4d1953d3aeb4a7f6623083e1839068ee1c157db2"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/22920541c35a9f23f219038ba5874c843a7c4419"}],"title":"ocfs2: avoid moving extents to occupied clusters","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
