Each redundant call\ncorrupts the anchor's doubly-linked list and inflates the URB\nrefcount. When usb_kill_anchored_urbs() traverses the list during\nstream stop / suspend / disconnect, the corrupted list leads to\nuse-after-free.\n\nRemove the redundant usb_anchor_urb() from the resubmit path."}],"metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","baseScore":7.8,"baseSeverity":"HIGH"},"scenarios":[{"lang":"en","value":"AV:L - The bug is reached through local ALSA PCM open/ioctl paths on /dev/snd/pcmC*D* (START/STOP via tascam_pcm_trigger), not via network protocols; a present TASCAM US-144/US-144MKII is a deployment prerequisite, and Local is chosen over Physical under the uncertainty rule.\nAC:L - An attacker who can open the PCM device can deterministically start capture (submitting URBs that complete and hit capture_urb_complete), then stop/suspend to invoke usb_kill_anchored_urbs on the corrupted anchor; no conditions outside attacker control are required.\nPR:L - The PCM path has no capability checks; ordinary local access to ALSA device nodes (audio group or seat/udev ACLs on studio/desktop systems with this interface) is sufficient, not init-namespace root.\nUI:N - The attacker alone opens the PCM device, starts and stops the stream, and thereby triggers URB resubmission corruption and the subsequent kill/UAF path without any separate victim action.\nS:U - The use-after-free corrupts kernel USB/ALSA state within the same host kernel security authority and does not cross a VM, IOMMU, or other separate boundary.\nC:H - Corrupted usb_anchor list traversal during usb_kill_anchored_urbs yields a kernel use-after-free; per guidance UAF enables reclaim of freed objects and arbitrary kernel information disclosure.\nI:H - The same UAF on URB/anchor-linked objects can be turned into heap reuse and control-flow hijacking primitives, so integrity impact is High rather than a mere crash.\nA:H - Traversing the corrupted anchor list or under-referenced URB state during stream stop, suspend, or disconnect can oops/panic the kernel, giving High availability impact."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["sound/usb/usx2y/us144mkii_capture.c"],"versions":[{"version":"c1bb0c13e430623c26543baae5bb9ae21139db87","lessThan":"16f14f55141d4c55c3f321f93c328fff7cd6860a","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"c1bb0c13e430623c26543baae5bb9ae21139db87","lessThan":"ab1db64912428cdf06a4f9542e16e0575e9ad59f","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"c1bb0c13e430623c26543baae5bb9ae21139db87","lessThan":"5cff1529a2f9b3461a7f5a6e36a86682fc290534","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["sound/usb/usx2y/us144mkii_capture.c"],"versions":[{"version":"6.18","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"6.18","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.39","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.1.4","lessThanOrEqual":"7.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.18","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.39"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.18","versionEndExcluding":"7.1.4"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.18","versionEndExcluding":"7.2"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/16f14f55141d4c55c3f321f93c328fff7cd6860a"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/ab1db64912428cdf06a4f9542e16e0575e9ad59f"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/5cff1529a2f9b3461a7f5a6e36a86682fc290534"}],"title":"ALSA: us144mkii: capture_urb_complete: redundant usb_anchor_urb corrupts anchor list on each resubmission","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
