there is no network-facing or pre-auth remote code path to this driver.\nAC:L - On any system with the SPI driver bound to a Honeywell MPR sensor, an attacker can trigger the uninitialized spi_transfer on every pressure read with a simple, repeatable sysfs access; no race or attacker-uncontrollable memory layout is required.\nPR:N - IIO in_pressure_raw sysfs attributes are world-readable (0444), so any local unprivileged user can invoke the vulnerable SPI transfer without capabilities or namespace elevation.\nUI:N - Exploitation requires only the attacker reading the sensor sysfs node; no victim interaction such as plugging hardware or mounting filesystems is needed.\nS:U - Impact is confined to kernel memory and SPI subsystem state on the same host; it does not cross a VM, container, or IOMMU security boundary.\nC:H - Stack garbage in spi_transfer fields (especially transfer_list and DMA mapping flags) corrupts SPI core linked lists and mapping state, enabling arbitrary kernel memory reads during exploitation of the resulting corruption primitive.\nI:H - The same uninitialized fields produce out-of-bounds linked-list manipulation and potential erroneous DMA unmap operations, which are classic kernel memory-corruption primitives that can be leveraged for arbitrary write and code execution.\nA:H - Corrupting spi_message transfer lists or SPI/DMA teardown paths can cause immediate kernel oops/panic or sustained denial of service via malformed CS/delay handling on the SPI bus."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/iio/pressure/mprls0025pa_spi.c"],"versions":[{"version":"a0858f0cd28e822b91376ae288d5548bc1847531","lessThan":"72158f9ae29a9e56d0f9704ce461a866feaf9925","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"a0858f0cd28e822b91376ae288d5548bc1847531","lessThan":"664ffdf34c01810085e4d85508b361c3fdd2ab40","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"a0858f0cd28e822b91376ae288d5548bc1847531","lessThan":"9080c7ac30f5f8f8fcb7b27b56df60fea7909c21","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"a0858f0cd28e822b91376ae288d5548bc1847531","lessThan":"1e0ac56c92e26115cbc8cfc639843725cb3a7d6a","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/iio/pressure/mprls0025pa_spi.c"],"versions":[{"version":"6.9","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"6.9","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.75","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.14","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.19.4","lessThanOrEqual":"6.19.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.0","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.9","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.75"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.9","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.14"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.9","versionEndExcluding":"6.19.4"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.9","versionEndExcluding":"7.0"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/72158f9ae29a9e56d0f9704ce461a866feaf9925"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/664ffdf34c01810085e4d85508b361c3fdd2ab40"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/9080c7ac30f5f8f8fcb7b27b56df60fea7909c21"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/1e0ac56c92e26115cbc8cfc639843725cb3a7d6a"}],"title":"iio: pressure: mprls0025pa: fix spi_transfer struct initialisation","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
