A malicious user\ncould exploit this, and this ioctl does not even requires that a user\nhas admin privileges (CAP_SYS_ADMIN), only that he/she owns the subvolume.\n\nFix this by doing an early check for item overflow before starting a\ntransaction. This is also race safe because we are holding the subvol_sem\nsemaphore in exclusive (write) mode.\n\nA test case for fstests will follow soon."}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["fs/btrfs/ioctl.c","fs/btrfs/uuid-tree.c","fs/btrfs/uuid-tree.h"],"versions":[{"version":"dd5f9615fc5c5e8d3751aab3a17b92768fb1ce70","lessThan":"b9914db13ac15aca3b74544c0bb1a2e0dad1f174","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"dd5f9615fc5c5e8d3751aab3a17b92768fb1ce70","lessThan":"b19c0465e4daad5aa8f60552ea0578cf31a11b1e","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"dd5f9615fc5c5e8d3751aab3a17b92768fb1ce70","lessThan":"2e57b8cac2ba0d38aac76c1ecdfd8b899e3581a5","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"dd5f9615fc5c5e8d3751aab3a17b92768fb1ce70","lessThan":"d11aefe654a04fc41996d254748d6a38b6b0a7be","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"dd5f9615fc5c5e8d3751aab3a17b92768fb1ce70","lessThan":"41fb97353ff58fa4f31904c343fc8e3df2f7517d","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"dd5f9615fc5c5e8d3751aab3a17b92768fb1ce70","lessThan":"87f2c46003fce4d739138aab4af1942b1afdadac","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["fs/btrfs/ioctl.c","fs/btrfs/uuid-tree.c","fs/btrfs/uuid-tree.h"],"versions":[{"version":"3.12","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"3.12","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.167","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.130","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.78","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.19","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.19.9","lessThanOrEqual":"6.19.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.0","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.12","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.167"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.12","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.130"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.12","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.78"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.12","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.19"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.12","versionEndExcluding":"6.19.9"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"3.12","versionEndExcluding":"7.0"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b9914db13ac15aca3b74544c0bb1a2e0dad1f174"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b19c0465e4daad5aa8f60552ea0578cf31a11b1e"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/2e57b8cac2ba0d38aac76c1ecdfd8b899e3581a5"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d11aefe654a04fc41996d254748d6a38b6b0a7be"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/41fb97353ff58fa4f31904c343fc8e3df2f7517d"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/87f2c46003fce4d739138aab4af1942b1afdadac"}],"title":"btrfs: fix transaction abort on set received ioctl due to item overflow","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
