A USBTMC device must be present, but exploitation is driven from local device-file operations rather than network traffic.\nAC:L - The attacker can deliberately submit asynchronous URBs and drop the file reference before completion; the missing release-time drawdown makes the UAF deterministic enough to trigger. Any completion timing needed can be influenced by repeated attempts and, in the strongest scenario, by a controlled USBTMC device.\nPR:L - There are no capability or namespace-sensitive privilege checks in the usbtmc open/ioctl/release path. The attacker only needs ordinary local access sufficient to open the /dev/usbtmc* node.\nUI:N - No separate victim action is required once the attacker can access the device node. The attacker can open the file, issue the async operation, and cause release themselves.\nS:U - The corruption occurs within kernel USB/driver memory and affects the same kernel security authority. This is standard kernel memory corruption, not a VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary escape by itself.\nC:H - This is a use-after-free of per-file kernel state containing embedded USB anchors and callback context. Per the kernel scoring guidance, UAF memory corruption can be leveraged for high-impact information disclosure.\nI:H - The HCD giveback path and completion callbacks write through freed file_data/anchor memory, giving a heap corruption primitive. UAF corruption is defensibly scored as high integrity impact because it can support arbitrary write or control-flow exploitation.\nA:H - Syzbot reproduced a KASAN slab-use-after-free write in the USB giveback path after usbtmc_release freed the object. Even without full exploitation, this can crash or destabilize the kernel."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/usb/class/usbtmc.c"],"versions":[{"version":"4f3c8d6eddc272b386464524235440a418ed2029","lessThan":"959ef329071136e4335b54822fe2f607659b4569","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"4f3c8d6eddc272b386464524235440a418ed2029","lessThan":"e189d443767f7cd390c52f2e122e1fc41c7562d6","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"4f3c8d6eddc272b386464524235440a418ed2029","lessThan":"7fa8f61bab3fb75b5deba8a0f3abb74dc5068d9f","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"4f3c8d6eddc272b386464524235440a418ed2029","lessThan":"95e09b07e50290254b28b8395509473104518f8c","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"4f3c8d6eddc272b386464524235440a418ed2029","lessThan":"d13318dec0c1e0e2ac16f8ecbd522db14cea4bb1","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"4f3c8d6eddc272b386464524235440a418ed2029","lessThan":"977b632db51d231dec0bc571089a5c2402674139","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"4f3c8d6eddc272b386464524235440a418ed2029","lessThan":"d40198de50232e04c14c6e2092e896766c95ea48","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"4f3c8d6eddc272b386464524235440a418ed2029","lessThan":"8a768552f7a8276fb9e01d49773d2094ace7c8f1","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/usb/class/usbtmc.c"],"versions":[{"version":"4.19","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"4.19","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.10.253","lessThanOrEqual":"5.10.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.15.203","lessThanOrEqual":"5.15.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.168","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.134","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.81","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.22","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.19.12","lessThanOrEqual":"6.19.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.0","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"5.10.253"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.203"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.168"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.134"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.81"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.22"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"6.19.12"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.19","versionEndExcluding":"7.0"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/959ef329071136e4335b54822fe2f607659b4569"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/e189d443767f7cd390c52f2e122e1fc41c7562d6"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/7fa8f61bab3fb75b5deba8a0f3abb74dc5068d9f"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/95e09b07e50290254b28b8395509473104518f8c"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d13318dec0c1e0e2ac16f8ecbd522db14cea4bb1"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/977b632db51d231dec0bc571089a5c2402674139"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d40198de50232e04c14c6e2092e896766c95ea48"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/8a768552f7a8276fb9e01d49773d2094ace7c8f1"}],"title":"usb: usbtmc: Flush anchored URBs in usbtmc_release","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
