Per kernel CNA guidance WiFi-reachable bugs are Adjacent.\nAC:L - `IEEE80211_LINK_UNSPECIFIED` is mac80211's default link value for every MLD-addressed frame and every fast-xmit frame, so an attacker simply associating with multi-link and prompting any management/action/EAPOL frame reliably drives the index-15 access. No race, timing, or memory-layout condition outside the attacker's control is involved.\nPR:N - The frames that carry `link_id == IEEE80211_LINK_UNSPECIFIED` include control-port/EAPOL and management frames emitted during MLO association, before the peer is authorized; on open networks no credentials exist at all. No account or capability on the target system is needed.\nUI:N - The AP transmits the offending frames automatically as part of normal MLO association and link management. No action by any local user or administrator is required.\nS:U - The out-of-bounds access and the resulting corruption are confined to the kernel of the affected device; no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.\nC:H - The out-of-bounds read walks past `link[]` into adjacent struct members and, on the vif path, substitutes `offchannel_link` so frames are transmitted under the wrong wcid/WTBL security context, exposing frame contents with the wrong or absent key. Combined with the memory-safety violation feeding a dereferenced pointer, High is the defensible assessment.\nI:H - The OOB-derived `wcid` pointer is used for writes in `mt76_tx()` — `__skb_queue_tail()` into `wcid->tx_pending` and `list_add_tail(&wcid->tx_list, &phy->tx_list)` — so kernel memory is modified through an out-of-bounds-sourced pointer, and the vif path additionally misdirects frames onto the wrong link/peer.\nA:H - Dereferencing the bogus link pointer in `mt76_tx()` faults in the TX path (frequently in softirq context), producing a kernel oops/panic on the AP or client and taking down the wireless device and typically the whole system."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/net/wireless/mediatek/mt76/mt7996/main.c"],"versions":[{"version":"3ce8acb86b6614b9f7af794f119f9627efe6b302","lessThan":"f82eabd0ff8067d1ee95515f4174c9a9569d54cb","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"3ce8acb86b6614b9f7af794f119f9627efe6b302","lessThan":"f43e7d8ae4b6a73213032545552bab26f76f113a","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"3ce8acb86b6614b9f7af794f119f9627efe6b302","lessThan":"64cbf0d7ce9afe20666da90ec6ecaec6ba5ac64b","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/net/wireless/mediatek/mt76/mt7996/main.c"],"versions":[{"version":"6.15","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"6.15","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.15.10","lessThanOrEqual":"6.15.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.16.1","lessThanOrEqual":"6.16.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.17","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.15","versionEndExcluding":"6.15.10"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.15","versionEndExcluding":"6.16.1"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.15","versionEndExcluding":"6.17"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/f82eabd0ff8067d1ee95515f4174c9a9569d54cb"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/f43e7d8ae4b6a73213032545552bab26f76f113a"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/64cbf0d7ce9afe20666da90ec6ecaec6ba5ac64b"}],"title":"wifi: mt76: mt7996: Fix possible OOB access in mt7996_tx()","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}
