This matches the AV:L scoring used for the sibling ALSA-USB disconnect CVEs in the same patch series (CVE-2024-56531).\nAC:L - There is no race to win: the free happens at teardown and the use happens at a moment the attacker chooses (`close()`), so the reclaim window is unbounded and the attacker can spray the corresponding kmalloc caches at leisure. The object sizes are stable and deterministic, making reliable reclaim straightforward.\nPR:L - The attacker only needs an ordinary unprivileged local account with access to the sound devices — granted by default to the active seat via systemd-logind uaccess ACLs or `audio` group membership. No capability, root, or namespace privilege is required.\nUI:N - The attacker performs every step themselves — opening the PCM/MIDI device, causing the card teardown, spraying the heap, and closing the fd. No action by a separate victim user is needed for the use-after-free to fire.\nS:U - The corruption is confined to kernel heap memory managed by the same kernel security authority; there is no crossing of a VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary.\nC:H - The freed `pcm_runtime`/`midi_runtime`/`comm_runtime`/`control_runtime` objects are reclaimable by attacker-controlled or victim-owned allocations, and the driver then reads chained pointers (`rt->chip->control`, `rt->chip->dev`, `sub->instance->runtime`) out of them, giving an attacker-steerable read primitive into arbitrary kernel memory.\nI:H - `usb6fire_pcm_close()` writes into the freed object (`sub->instance`, `sub->active`, `rt->stream_state`, `rt->rate`) and `usb6fire_pcm_stream_stop()` performs an indirect call via `ctrl_rt->update_streaming()` — a function pointer read from reclaimed memory; the rawmidi path additionally calls `usb_submit_urb()` on a freed embedded `struct urb`, yielding a controlled `urb->complete` callback and full control-flow hijack potential.\nA:H - Even without controlled reclaim, dereferencing and locking the freed structures (`mutex_lock(&rt->stream_mutex)`, `spin_lock_irqsave(&rt->out_lock)`) on poisoned or reused slab memory reliably produces an oops, lock corruption, or kernel panic, taking the system down."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["sound/usb/6fire/chip.c"],"versions":[{"version":"c6d43ba816d1cf1d125bfbfc938f2a28a87facf9","lessThan":"74357d0b5cd3ef544752bc9f21cbeee4902fae6c","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"c6d43ba816d1cf1d125bfbfc938f2a28a87facf9","lessThan":"273eec23467dfbfbd0e4c10302579ba441fb1e13","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"c6d43ba816d1cf1d125bfbfc938f2a28a87facf9","lessThan":"f2d06d4e129e2508e356136f99bb20a332ff1a00","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"c6d43ba816d1cf1d125bfbfc938f2a28a87facf9","lessThan":"b889a7d68d7e76b8795b754a75c91a2d561d5e8c","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"c6d43ba816d1cf1d125bfbfc938f2a28a87facf9","lessThan":"ea8cc56db659cf0ae57073e32a4735ead7bd7ee3","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"c6d43ba816d1cf1d125bfbfc938f2a28a87facf9","lessThan":"b754e831a94f82f2593af806741392903f359168","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"c6d43ba816d1cf1d125bfbfc938f2a28a87facf9","lessThan":"0df7f4b5cc10f5adf98be0845372e9eef7bb5b09","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"c6d43ba816d1cf1d125bfbfc938f2a28a87facf9","lessThan":"57860a80f03f9dc69a34a5c37b0941ad032a0a8c","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"c6d43ba816d1cf1d125bfbfc938f2a28a87facf9","lessThan":"a0810c3d6dd2d29a9b92604d682eacd2902ce947","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["sound/usb/6fire/chip.c"],"versions":[{"version":"2.6.39","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"2.6.39","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"4.19.325","lessThanOrEqual":"4.19.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.4.287","lessThanOrEqual":"5.4.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.10.231","lessThanOrEqual":"5.10.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.15.174","lessThanOrEqual":"5.15.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.120","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.64","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.11.11","lessThanOrEqual":"6.11.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.2","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.13","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.39","versionEndExcluding":"4.19.325"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.39","versionEndExcluding":"5.4.287"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.39","versionEndExcluding":"5.10.231"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.39","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.174"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.39","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.120"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.39","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.64"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.39","versionEndExcluding":"6.11.11"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.39","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.2"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.39","versionEndExcluding":"6.13"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/74357d0b5cd3ef544752bc9f21cbeee4902fae6c"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/273eec23467dfbfbd0e4c10302579ba441fb1e13"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/f2d06d4e129e2508e356136f99bb20a332ff1a00"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b889a7d68d7e76b8795b754a75c91a2d561d5e8c"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/ea8cc56db659cf0ae57073e32a4735ead7bd7ee3"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b754e831a94f82f2593af806741392903f359168"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/0df7f4b5cc10f5adf98be0845372e9eef7bb5b09"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/57860a80f03f9dc69a34a5c37b0941ad032a0a8c"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/a0810c3d6dd2d29a9b92604d682eacd2902ce947"}],"title":"ALSA:
