The \"arg->vec_len * sizeof(struct page_region))\"\nmultiplication can lead to integer wrapping. There is no network-facing consumer of this interface.\nAC:L - Triggering is fully deterministic — the attacker simply passes a crafted vec_len (e.g. 2^61, or 0x1_0000_0001) in the pm_scan_arg struct; no race, timing window, or uncontrollable memory state is involved, and the attacker shapes both the slab allocation size and the overflow contents via its own VMA layout.\nPR:L - Any unprivileged local user can open /proc/self/pagemap, since proc_mem_open(PTRACE_MODE_READ) always permits self-access and no capability is checked on the PAGEMAP_SCAN path. CONFIG_PROC_PAGE_MONITOR is enabled by default.\nUI:N - The attacking process performs the entire sequence itself — open its own pagemap file and issue one ioctl. No victim action or cooperation is needed.\nS:U - The corruption stays within the kernel of the affected system and the calling process's own address space; no VM, IOMMU, or other security-authority boundary is crossed.\nC:H - The defeated access_ok range check plus the resulting unbounded slab out-of-bounds write past a 24-byte kmalloc object lets an attacker corrupt adjacent slab objects (pointers, lengths, credentials), a classic heap-overflow primitive readily leveraged for arbitrary kernel memory disclosure.\nI:H - The vec_buf_len underflow in pagemap_scan_push_range yields a repeatable out-of-bounds heap write with partially attacker-shaped 24-byte payloads, giving an arbitrary-write primitive suitable for control-flow hijack and privilege escalation.\nA:H - The same input path produces an immediate kernel oops by dereferencing ZERO_SIZE_PTR (write at address 0x10) when kmalloc_array(0, 24) is used, and the slab overflow reliably panics the kernel on any hardened/allocator-checked configuration."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["fs/proc/task_mmu.c"],"versions":[{"version":"52526ca7fdb905a768a93f8faa418e9b988fc34b","lessThan":"adee03f8903c58a6a559f21388a430211fac8ce9","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"52526ca7fdb905a768a93f8faa418e9b988fc34b","lessThan":"669b0cb81e4e4e78cff77a5b367c7f70c0c6c05e","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["fs/proc/task_mmu.c"],"versions":[{"version":"6.7","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"6.7","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.11.10","lessThanOrEqual":"6.11.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.7","versionEndExcluding":"6.11.10"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.7","versionEndExcluding":"6.12"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/adee03f8903c58a6a559f21388a430211fac8ce9"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/669b0cb81e4e4e78cff77a5b367c7f70c0c6c05e"}],"title":"fs/proc/task_mmu: prevent integer overflow in pagemap_scan_get_args()","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}},"adp":[{"metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"scope":"UNCHANGED","version":"3.1","baseScore":5.5,"attackVector":"LOCAL","baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","integrityImpact":"NONE","userInteraction":"NONE","attackComplexity":"LOW","availabilityImpact":"HIGH","privilegesRequired":"LOW","confidentialityImpact":"NONE"}},{"other":{"type":"ssvc","content":{"id":"CVE-2024-53107","role":"CISA Coordinator","options":[{"Exploitation":"none"},{"Automatable":"no"},{"Technical Impact":"partial"}],"version":"2.0.3","timestamp":"2025-10-01T20:10:51.003579Z"}}}],"problemTypes":[{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","type":"CWE","cweId":"CWE-190","description":"CWE-190 Integer Overflow or Wraparound"}]}],"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment","providerMetadata":{"orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","shortName":"CISA-ADP","dateUpdated":"2025-10-01T20:17:11.772Z"}}]}}
