Despite living in include/net/tls.h, no TLS/kTLS network peer is involved; the helper is simply misapplied to non-inet sockets.\nAC:L - The attacker deterministically controls both the configuration (sockmap with stream_parser+stream_verdict, or the sk_skb_adjust_room helper) and the trigger (writing to the socket); no race and no uncontrolled memory layout is required. The confused offset is fixed and the fault reproduces reliably, as shown by the reporter's vsock-loopback repro.\nPR:L - In the intended deployment for this feature — sockmap acceleration of AF_UNIX/vsock IPC set up by a privileged agent — an ordinary unprivileged local process triggers the OOB read merely by connecting and writing to the socket, and a guest VM can trigger the identical virtio_transport_recv_pkt path on the host. BPF tokens (6.9+) additionally let container runtimes delegate CAP_BPF/CAP_NET_ADMIN into an unprivileged user namespace, so real init-namespace root is not required.\nUI:N - No victim action is needed; the attacker performs both the sockmap attachment (or relies on an existing legitimate one) and the socket write that drives sk_data_ready into the confused helper.\nS:U - The out-of-bounds read, wild dereference and resulting oops are all confined to the host kernel's own security authority. No IOMMU, hypervisor, or sandbox boundary is crossed by the defect itself.\nC:H - tls_get_ctx() reads 8 bytes at offset 1264 of a 1152-byte unix_sock — a genuine out-of-bounds read into an adjacent, heap-groomable slab object — and the resulting value is then dereferenced at +0x30, yielding an arbitrary-address read whose outcome steers control flow as an observable oracle.\nI:H - This is a type confusion (vsock_sock/unix_sock treated as inet_connection_sock), which per scoring guidance carries High integrity impact; concretely, a spuriously \"true\" tls_sw_has_ctx_rx() in sk_skb_adjust_room() writes rxm->full_len += len_diff into the skb control block, corrupting strparser length bookkeeping on a socket that has no TLS context.\nA:H - The demonstrated result is an unhandled kernel page fault (\"BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: 0000000000040030\") inside a workqueue/softirq context, i.e. an oops that panics with panic_on_oops and otherwise kills the worker while holding sk_callback_lock and the socket lock, hanging the subsystem."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["include/net/tls.h"],"versions":[{"version":"94531cfcbe79c3598acf96806627b2137ca32eb9","lessThan":"a078a480ff3f43d74d8a024ae10c3c7daf6db149","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"94531cfcbe79c3598acf96806627b2137ca32eb9","lessThan":"6781cfa93a6a1b7f5be6819a5a2dd8f30f47ca26","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"94531cfcbe79c3598acf96806627b2137ca32eb9","lessThan":"44d0469f79bd3d0b3433732877358df7dc6b17b1","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["include/net/tls.h"],"versions":[{"version":"5.15","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"5.15","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.62","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.11.9","lessThanOrEqual":"6.11.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.15","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.62"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.15","versionEndExcluding":"6.11.9"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.15","versionEndExcluding":"6.12"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/a078a480ff3f43d74d8a024ae10c3c7daf6db149"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/6781cfa93a6a1b7f5be6819a5a2dd8f30f47ca26"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/44d0469f79bd3d0b3433732877358df7dc6b17b1"}],"title":"bpf: Add sk_is_inet and IS_ICSK check in tls_sw_has_ctx_tx/rx","x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}},"adp":[{"metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"scope":"UNCHANGED","version":"3.1","baseScore":5.5,"attackVector":"LOCAL","baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","integrityImpact":"NONE","userInteraction":"NONE","attackComplexity":"LOW","availabilityImpact":"HIGH","privilegesRequired":"LOW","confidentialityImpact":"NONE"}},{"other":{"type":"ssvc","content":{"id":"CVE-2024-53091","role":"CISA Coordinator","options":[{"Exploitation":"none"},{"Automatable":"no"},{"Technical Impact":"partial"}],"version":"2.0.3","timestamp":"2025-10-01T20:11:30.644487Z"}}}],"problemTypes":[{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","type":"CWE","description":"CWE-noinfo Not enough information"}]}],"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment","providerMetadata":{"orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","shortName":"CISA-ADP","dateUpdated":"2025-10-01T20:17:13.685Z"}}]}}
