Bridge/overlay ports (VXLAN, GRE, L2TP) carrying such traffic mean the attacker need not sit on the victim's L2 segment.\nAC:L - The attacker fully controls both preconditions for GRO coalescing — sending back-to-back same-flow UDP datagrams is sufficient to build the fraglist skb, and the resulting `udp_hdr(seg->next)->dest` dereference on a NULL `seg->next` is deterministic, not layout- or timing-dependent. No memory grooming or race win is needed.\nPR:N - The entire path — NAPI GRO, `netif_receive_skb`, bridge/forwarding `skb_copy`, `validate_xmit_skb` → `skb_gso_segment` — runs in softirq on unauthenticated received packets. The attacker needs no account, credentials, or capability on the target.\nUI:N - Triggering requires only that the victim host receive and forward the attacker's UDP packets, which happens automatically in the receive/transmit softirq. No administrator or user action is involved.\nS:U - The fault occurs in the kernel's own network stack and its impact is confined to that kernel's security authority. No hypervisor, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.\nC:N - The failure is a NULL pointer dereference at a small fixed offset (`udp_hdr(NULL)->dest`), which faults immediately below `mmap_min_addr` rather than reading valid memory. No out-of-bounds read, uninitialized data, or kernel pointer is exposed to the attacker.\nI:N - Nothing is written outside the skb before the oops — only the packet's own UDP length field is updated in `__udp_gso_segment_list()`. There is no out-of-bounds write, use-after-free, or type confusion, so no control-flow-hijack or arbitrary-write primitive arises.\nA:H - The NULL dereference happens in softirq context on the transmit path, producing a kernel oops that on a forwarding device typically panics the machine (and is fatal with `panic_on_oops`). An unauthenticated attacker can repeat it at will with a UDP burst, causing complete loss of availability."}]}],"affected":[{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["net/core/skbuff.c"],"versions":[{"version":"3a1296a38d0cf62bffb9a03c585cbd5dbf15d596","lessThan":"faa83a7797f06cefed86731ba4baa3b4dfdc06c1","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"3a1296a38d0cf62bffb9a03c585cbd5dbf15d596","lessThan":"c7af99cc21923a9650533c9d77265c8dd683a533","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"3a1296a38d0cf62bffb9a03c585cbd5dbf15d596","lessThan":"989bf6fd1e1d058e73a364dce1a0c53d33373f62","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"3a1296a38d0cf62bffb9a03c585cbd5dbf15d596","lessThan":"cfe34d86ef9765c388f145039006bb79b6c81ac6","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"3a1296a38d0cf62bffb9a03c585cbd5dbf15d596","lessThan":"aea5e2669c2863fdd8679c40ee310b3bcaa85aec","status":"affected","versionType":"git"},{"version":"3a1296a38d0cf62bffb9a03c585cbd5dbf15d596","lessThan":"d091e579b864fa790dd6a0cd537a22c383126681","status":"affected","versionType":"git"}]},{"product":"Linux","vendor":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["net/core/skbuff.c"],"versions":[{"version":"5.6","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","lessThan":"5.6","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.10.217","lessThanOrEqual":"5.10.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.15.159","lessThanOrEqual":"5.15.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.91","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.31","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.8.10","lessThanOrEqual":"6.8.*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.9","lessThanOrEqual":"*","status":"unaffected","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}]}],"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.6","versionEndExcluding":"5.10.217"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.6","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.159"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.6","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.91"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.6","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.31"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.6","versionEndExcluding":"6.8.10"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.6","versionEndExcluding":"6.9"}]}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/faa83a7797f06cefed86731ba4baa3b4dfdc06c1"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c7af99cc21923a9650533c9d77265c8dd683a533"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/989bf6fd1e1d058e73a364dce1a0c53d33373f62"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/cfe34d86ef9765c388f145039006bb79b6c81ac6"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/aea5e2669c2863fdd8679c40ee310b3bcaa85aec"},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d091e579b864fa790dd6a0cd537a22c383126681"}],"title":"net:
