Prior to version 0.4.2, `conduit-hyper` did not check any limit on a request's length before calling [`hyper::body::to_bytes`](https://docs.rs/hyper/latest/hyper/body/fn.to_bytes.html). An attacker could send a malicious request with an abnormally large `Content-Length`, which could lead to a panic if memory allocation failed for that request. In version 0.4.2, `conduit-hyper` sets an internal limit of 128 MiB per request, otherwise returning status 400 (\"Bad Request\"). This crate is part of the implementation of Rust's [crates.io](https://crates.io/), but that service is not affected due to its existing cloud infrastructure, which already drops such malicious requests. Even with the new limit in place, `conduit-hyper` is not recommended for production use, nor to directly serve the public Internet."}],"affected":[{"vendor":"conduit-rust","product":"conduit-hyper","versions":[{"version":">= 0.2.0-alpha.3, < 0.4.2","status":"affected"}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/conduit-rust/conduit-hyper/security/advisories/GHSA-9398-5ghf-7pr6"}],"metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"version":"3.1","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","attackVector":"NETWORK","attackComplexity":"LOW","privilegesRequired":"NONE","userInteraction":"NONE","scope":"UNCHANGED","confidentialityImpact":"NONE","integrityImpact":"NONE","availabilityImpact":"HIGH","baseScore":7.5,"baseSeverity":"HIGH"}}],"problemTypes":[{"descriptions":[{"type":"CWE","lang":"en","description":"CWE-400: Uncontrolled Resource Consumption","cweId":"CWE-400"}]}],"source":{"advisory":"GHSA-9398-5ghf-7pr6","discovery":"UNKNOWN"}},"adp":[{"providerMetadata":{"orgId":"af854a3a-2127-422b-91ae-364da2661108","shortName":"CVE","dateUpdated":"2024-08-03T12:00:44.059Z"},"title":"CVE Program Container","references":[{"url":"https://github.com/conduit-rust/conduit-hyper/security/advisories/GHSA-9398-5ghf-7pr6","tags":["x_transferred"]}]},{"metrics":[{"other":{"type":"ssvc","content":{"timestamp":"2025-04-23T15:49:41.633353Z","id":"CVE-2022-39294","options":[{"Exploitation":"none"},{"Automatable":"yes"},{"Technical Impact":"partial"}],"role":"CISA Coordinator","version":"2.0.3"}}}],"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment","providerMetadata":{"orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","shortName":"CISA-ADP","dateUpdated":"2025-04-23T16:42:04.247Z"}}]}}
